Mounted flap wheels feature coated abrasive flaps arranged radially around a central core in a fan-like structure. This design provides exceptional flexibility, allowing the flaps to conform precisely to surface contours for smooth, controlled grinding and finishing results. Each abrasive flap is manufactured with abrasive grain securely bonded to a strong, flexible cloth backing using a durable resinoid bond. As the wheel wears, new, sharp abrasive is continuously exposed, ensuring a consistently high stock removal rate throughout the entire service life. Designed for universal applications from coarse to fine grinding, mounted flap wheels are suitable for a wide range of materials and finishing requirements. The flat, molded-core design allows face-down grinding close to edges and into corners, making the tool highly versatile for detailed and confined work areas. In accordance with ISO 3919, mounted flap wheels are designated as “flap wheels with shaft.” For optimal performance, reduced heat generation, and extended tool life, proper control of contact pressure and operating speed is recommended. Using appropriate grinding oil can further enhance abrasive performance and durability.
